A three-day training program on Fundamentals of GIS & Remote Sensing was held at the IRTC campus from 16th October to 18th October 2019. The training was attended by professionals and research scholars from across the state.
IRTC Director, Dr. S. Sreekumar inaugurated the training programme. After the inaugural session, Anand Sebastian, Project Scientist led a session on "Fundamentals & Applications of Remote Sensing". A practical training on Remote Sensing followed, led by Project Fellow Vivek Ashokan. On the second day, project assistants Ragendu N.R. and Rajan M. introduced the theory and practice of GIS technology. Resource map construction training was also conducted on the second day.
The final day of training introduced the application and possibilities of GPS technology through fieldwork. Anand Sebastian, Vivek Asokan and Rajan M. led the fieldwork. Afterwards Ragendu N.R. led the practical training class on Google Earth Mapping.
IRTC Registrar K.K. Janardhanan distributed the course certificates at the closing ceremony presided over by R. Satheesh, Head of Natural Resources Management division. IRTC Project Scientist Anand Sebastian delivered the vote of thanks.
