IRTC conducted a workshop on “Application on Watershed Management using GIS and Remote sensing” for the faculties of Natural Resource Management Division on 6th November 2019.
The program focussed on the physical, biological, the social and economic component of the watershed, as well as the determination of issues, vulnerability, issues, and opportunities for development interventions. The methodologies for GIS and RS cover topics ranging from basic concepts and processing to specific watershed applications.
The preparation of a watershed characterization and vulnerability assessment is the first step in the sustainable management of our watershed resources. It provides watershed managers and decision-makers basis for development and conservation strategies to be implemented. With the advent of technologies like Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS), the preparation of these analyses has been made easier and more accurate.
