IRTC has launched a four-day training program for facilitators of the 3R Package Project implemented by the SAF (Society for Assistance to Fisherwomen) under the Department of Fisheries, which aims at economic upliftment of women along the coast. Sreelu N. S., Executive Director, SAF inaugurated the programme. The scheme aims to help fisherwomen by providing interest-free loans, who otherwise depend the money lenders or middlemen for money with high interests to buy and sell fish on a daily basis. The first phase of it will be implemented in Kollam and Alappuzha districts. Dr. N. K. Sasidharan Pillai, former Director IRTC and former Deputy Director, Department of Fisheries, A. K. Mathew led the classes. K. K. Janardhanan, Registrar, IRTC presided over the function and Shihabuheen P. Coordinator, Theeramaythri, welcomed the gathering.
