Fresh water fish cultivation and ornamental fish cultivation are offered by IRTC as livelihood based activities. Training and Continuous support are given in both areas. There is a well-equipped breeding and rearing facility and aquarium attached to the division. Apart from the trainings, sale of fingerlings and fresh water fish varieties is also undertaken. The division is also engaged in continuous research and development activities in the area. Short-term trainings, internships and project assistance are also given to students of UG/PG degrees in related fields.


Dr. N.K. Sasidharan Pillai

Retired from Kerala fisheries Department. He was holding positions such as Deputy Director of Fisheries, Team Leader of Tsunami Rehabilitation Programme , Managing Director of Kerala Coastal Area Development Corporation.Formerly General Secretary and President of KSSP.Earlier worked with IRTC as Research Coordinator, Registrar and as Team Leader of the NABARD HWDP.
