Pottery

The Pottery Division at IRTC is one of the pioneer divisions. In recent years, the division has concentrated on research and development as well as diversifying its product offerings. Notably, it has introduced two innovative products: a compact pugmill (500 W) with a capacity of 1 kg per minute, and an energy-efficient kiln, alongside a motorized potter’s wheel (400 W) and a microwave oven, all of which have received positive feedback from the pottery community.

The division has also embraced modernization by incorporating techniques such as decoupage, glazing, ornament creation, and mural art. Continuous training sessions have been provided for artisans, who have participated in various exhibitions. Key initiatives include establishing an emporium at Gramakala, developing potter clusters in Pudukode and Parvur, and hosting national workshops.
